South Point Temple - God's B'day

I wished I had taken my tripod when I saw the sparks flying off these large incense sticks. Although I'm pretty pleased with how clear these hand held shots turned out.

Hand made jewellery 5

I hand make the feature beads in this jewellery from thongs that wash up on Greta Beach. The rest of the materials are bought and include wood beads, lava beads, leather cord, plastic disks, silver beads et.

Dragon King

I have been to Hugh's Dale numerous times and never seen a rainbow there. This morning I was present while the local Buddhist community honoured the Dragon King that lives in the waterfall. I found it a deeply moving experience to watch the glow of the rainbow as they chanted and made offerings.

Moon Eclipse

I got up at 1am to take these photos. It got progressively more overcast and difficult. By 2:30am it had started to rain, so I packed up and went back to bed.

Lino Printing

I just finished a lino printing course and loved it. I have wanted to learn lino printing for a couple years now. I experimented with applying the lino print to canvas painted with acrylic. There was definitely a learning curve involved in getting the print to work. I still had to do some "touching up" afterwards. But I'm happy with the end results.

Whale Shark Dreaming

I based this dot painting on a photo I took while I was diving last year.

Whale Shark

This is the second panel that I am contributing to the Gum Saan Dragon project. It is also a practice run for my next canvas.

"Island Dreaming"

When Simon and I were in WA I got very inspired by all the creative things I saw. One art exhibition we looked at had some aboriginal pieces that got me thinking again about doing my own dot painting. A part of me has resisted the idea over the last couple years because the island has no indigenous population. I finally decided to stop letting that little detail get in the way and dig into my aboriginal roots. I am particularly proud of how unsymmetrical this picture is... symmetry in patterns is something I have struggled to get away from.

Community Project

I painted this panel for a community project. It will be sewn in with other panels that will make up a body section to be added to the Gum Saan Dragon (from Ararat) due to visit the island in September.

Brown Boobies

Gentle Kiss

This was such a tender moment. One Brown booby also gifted the other with a leaf, but I didn't get a good shot of that interaction.
